Joseph T. Mullen, Jr.
Joseph T. Mullen, Jr. has distinguished himself, over the last 40 years, as a tireless advocate, champion and defender of the rights of those who have been injured through many types of accidents and medical malpractice. He was born and grew up in the Bronx, attended Fordham University and later the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, from which he graduated in 1982.
Upon graduating from law school, Joseph went to work for, and received his legal training from, noted attorneys F. Lee Bailey and Aaron J. Broder, whose practices concentrated on mass torts such as airplane crashes and the fire at MGM Casino in Las Vegas. Eager to do even more for, and fully immerse himself into the lives of people who sustained injuries through no fault of their own, he founded his law firm, Joseph T. Mullen, Jr. & Associates, in 1984 with the goal of imposing responsibility and accountability upon those who brought about those injuries, be they individuals, businesses or governmental entities. He has fearlessly fought for his clients to insure that they received fair compensation, which now totals in excess of $350 million through countless settlements and verdicts.
Joseph is a fierce litigator and resolute negotiator. He knows first-hand how debilitating and painful trauma to the body can be and the impact it can have on one’s life, having himself been a victim of spinal meningitis during childhood and, more recently, being struck by an automobile while crossing a street in Manhattan. He feels his clients’ pain. He speaks the language of many of his clients, as he is fluent in Spanish.
Joseph is admitted to practice before the Courts of the State of New York and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He has been a member of Trial Lawyers Care, an organization founded to provide free legal assistance to families of 9/11 victims and successfully obtained an award in excess of $3.8 million for the wife and children of a World Trade Center victim whose remains were never found. He has served as a Director of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers.
Joseph lives in Northern New Jersey and is the proud father of four adult children. He is an active member of his local church and the community in which he resides.
Neil A. Zirlin
Neil A. Zirlin is the managing attorney of Joseph T. Mullen, Jr. & Associates, having joined the firm in 1993. He graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1992 and is admitted to practice before the Courts of the State of New York and the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
Neil has devoted his career to being the voice and tireless advocate for those who have been harmed as a result of the wrongdoing of corporations, government entities, individuals, hospitals and manufacturers. He has represented clients who have sustained injuries as the result of motor vehicle accidents, unsafe construction sites, police misconduct, the negligence of property owners, medical malpractice and defective products. The relationships he has developed with his clients and the hard work he has put in on their behalf has resulted in millions of dollars in compensation to those clients through jury verdicts and settlements.
Neil resides with his wife and two sons in Bergen County, NJ. He has been an active member of his community, devoting countless hours to organizing and coaching youth baseball, basketball and football teams.
